One To Watch- Artistically different direction for snowboard vids.

Its the new movie by the Think Tank crew.. (www.thinkthank.com)..
Its one of the best movies of the season so far...

Its creatively awesome.....
Each season attempts are made to push the limits of snowboarding, providing viewers with something new and extreme to watch.. but often (harsh..) it can be the same tricks, lines and moutains.
But Think Tank seemed to have had a crackingly adventurous and imaginative 08/09 season and they have the video to prove. With 15 top shredders and jibbers- they are all over the world and riding it like a playground- with a high percentage of the movie made up with urban rail riding. These guys really put in the time and effort to design set-ups that look as fun to ride as watch.
Think Tank creator, Jesse Burtner, started the crew with the aim to put the fun back into riding, with an artistic twist. Using the landscape and arcitecture to produce some snowboarding masterpieces..

LONDON TRANSPORT TRANFORMED!

This is amazing... it looks like 'Transport for London' has come up with an alternative mode to get you from A to B!!!!!
An Oyster Card usable transformer bus.. This one being the frequently used 25 to Oxford Circus! Not sure where you are supposed to sit.. possibly it is more of a piggy back ride than your normal seat affair...

Spotted this dude on what seems to be his day off, as he was outwith the usual route, taking in the sights of London Tower Bridge..

Could it be the solution to ease congestion in central London!.. or are we not alone in this universe after all...

More pics for eye pleasure!:

Mmmmm FRESHLY BAKED- Greasy Pickle Find!

It is a fact.. you can never have to many beanies.. and a few hat related greasy pickle finds for you!

And with winter here already, its the perfect time to add some new ones to your collection! A hat is not only for functional head warming reasons... and NEFF have come to show us how far you can push the boundaries of beanie design..
I for one love cupcakes... and I love beanies.. So imagine my joy to find out that NEFF have produced the one an only Cupcake beanie. Sweet on the eye you might say:

Have a peek:

I definately feel that having this hat would complete my wardrobe. Its classic! Imagine flying through the powder... the cherry peeking out the top! LOVE IT! The one above Strawberry, but also available in red, white, chocolate.. rrp about £25.

Or if the above design doesn't tickle your fancy- check out this new company.. an absolute brain wave:

Custom beanies, designed by you online... knitted by a real live grannie! They are literaly booming with business after a small amount of promotion at The Metro Ski show.
Wow what to do.. lucky you can never have too many beanies....

Wow I really shouldn't tell anyone about this..

I MUST win this competition. It has become my only life goal...

Seeing as we were unsuccessful in the bid to become the 'Tropical Island Caretaker' on that remote Aussie Island.. This has to be our next option for lifelong dream. In fact I would take this over the tropical, beach, sun, sand, sea any day!

The legendary Powder Highway in B.C. is giving one lucky person the chance to be a ski bum.. free of charge, all expenses paid.. for 3 whole months during the upcoming season.

The Powder Highway is world renowned for backcountry snow sure, powder riding... a route nestled through the Kooteney mountains in interior BC- you would have the chance to ride some of the best spots around; from the hippie ville of Nelson, the quietest Red Mountain, Golden.. Big White..Kimberly.. to name a few. All quiet untainted mountains! Its also the area with the most cat skiiing operations you'll find anywhere..and you get 15.. yes 15 days of cat skiing included in the prize. Bloody brilliant!

Check it all out here:

http://www.powderhighway.com/SkiBum/

All you have to do is film a 90sec piece on what would make you the best choice..

As they say:
'No agenda, no job, just snow, mountains and a road that links it all together.'

You Learn Something New Every Day...

I didn't realise it had been defined:
Literally just stumbled upon this 'dictionary' definition of the word Steazy. Obviousily this is frequently used in a greasy pickle conversation... but there is a huge flaw with belows 'definition'. Check it out:

1.
Steazy
Uproariously awesome; sick, dirty
"Damn Avery, them's be some steazy shoes." "Yeah dawg, they pure steaz."

Greasy pickle- okay so above, yes, agreeable. Loving the made -up word 'uproariously awesome' (note to self use this in everyday conversation). However... read on..

2.
steazy
Stupid, Sleazy, Whorish
Man, she sure is steazy
stupid sleazy whore dumb idiot

This second definition slightly angers me!! So if we say 'man, he sure is steazy' it means he is uproariously awesome... But used in a female sense, the subject is a whore? or stupid?

Eh no... incorrect!

Happy Green Planet!

Giving RESPECT to the Worlds Most Environmental Snowboard Factory!

These days every company is doing their bit for the environment.. Coming out with eco ranges- PET, organic cotton, recycled boards .. Flashing it our faces what they are doing to help the planet... but whilst every little helps, these eco products only make up a small percentage of products for many brands.

But ladies and gentlemen, put your hands together for the ecosystems favourite snowboard manufacturer.. MERVIN

The Mervin factory, rightfully, labels itself as the 'world most environmental snowboard factory'

And a deserved label this is... Mervin has been processing snowboards in their eco-friendly manner since before the days of climate change and global warming. Founded way back in 1977, they have been using their friendly techniques from day one. Check out what makes them the most environmental:

http://www.mervin.com/index.php/enviromental

From the snowboard production, to the cleaning of the factory- they have thought it all through.
They show that simply designing a process more friendly to the planet does not take extra work and effort. We can all learn a few lessons from the Mervin guys! Very respectable!

Not only does it get brownie points for its eco-manufacturing, but also its the last remaining snowboard processing factory in the USA.. honestly... with most companies looking to cut costs and sourcing offshore in China. Keeping the industry strong and local. Providing jobs- and great jobs at that (staff at the Mervin factory get a season pass for nearby mountains and a free board of custom design. nice!).

If your not already signed on to get yourself a lib tech/gnu/roxy board, here is another considerably amazing point to make about the boards. They are freaking brilliant! Mervin is a factory run by snowboarders, they have been developing boards since the sport started- they invented Banana-traction. And this season its still being talked about. Not only that but their Magnatraction (those wobbly edges) is also going down a treat!

Check out boards.. They are all Mervin manufactured- Eco, Banana and Magna infused! (loving the new TR boards, and the Roxy Eminence Torah Brights)..

But hey, the industry as a whole is on it.. Hopefully its not just the trend of the season. But every company is doing their bit to help this beautiful world- where would we be without the snow/mountains!

other brands with eco-lines 09/10 season: Burton, Salomon, Bataleon, Union, Capita, Quiksilver, Signal, K2, Arbor..

A Must Watch..

Peel those Peepers and Set your Brain to Focus.. This one will get you thinking and hopefully get us one step closer to change!

Like 3 million other viewers, I have just watched the documentary 'Home' on youtube.

Its an amazing film- an incredible visual portrayal of the earth and how all the problems we face are interlinked... How humanity is threatening the ecological balance of the world.

My peepers are satisfyed thanks to the incredible cinematography- film full of incredible pictures of the earth/nature with aerial footage from over 50 countries.... My brain is buzzing with facts on the planet and our consumption...

Watch yourself... see what you take from it...

A few facts to shock and hopefully inspire!

*20% of the worlds population consume 80% of resources.

*1 billion humans have no access to safe drinking water.

*Every year 13million hectares of forest disappear.

I feel inspired, guilty, greedy, angry...

Respect nature fellow boardriders... what would we do without it...

This Weeks Greasy Pickle Find...

FASHION GREASY PICKLE:

This could not be a more perfect post to start the blog. These are the absolute in greasy pickles in the jean world..

Monkee Genes.. You don't have to like bananas to find these tasty!

For the first time in a few months I decide to go shopping for jeans. I don't like shopping for jeans. They never fit right. Never. But my life has been enhanced. Thanks to the lovely jean maker, named MONKEE JEANS.

Why does a greasy pickle like us rant about them? They stand for everything a greasy pickle believes in.

Number 1
They are organically grown- approved by the soil association.

Number 2
Made in Britain, locally sourced and picked.. carbon miles considerably lower than your average jean important from China fo sure!

and last but just as pickily importantly:

Number 3
They come in a range of freaking steazy colours/styles.. I myself purchased a lovely bright pair of supa skinny purple organic sateen. Also available in pink, turquoise, lime, chilli..

ch..ch..check them out:
